Acceptance of the finished chip seal is as follows:
For asphaltic emulsion or asphalt binder, acceptance is based on the sampling and testing for compliance with the requirements for the quality characteristics specified.
For aggregate, acceptance is based on the sampling and testing for compliance with the requirements for the quality characteristics specified.
The following will be based on visual inspection or by other method specified after construction:
Uniform surface texture
Raveling or aggregate loss
Flushing
Streaking
Acceptance should not apply to areas where the existing surfacing, prior to application of chipseal, contained defects such as excessive rutting or flushing. These defective areas should be identified and noted by the contractor and owner prior to application.
