PPRA Members Join FP2 as They Meet with Congressional Leaders During the TCC Fly-In

As winter turns to spring the only thing more certain than the cherry blossoms blooming in Washington, D.C. is that the Transportation Construction Coalition (TCC) will convene for its annual congressional fly-in May 12-14, 2020.

I’ll be joining others from the PPRA and FP2 as we meet with congressional leaders to achieve a bipartisan solution to the September 30, 2020 expiration of the “Fixing America’s Surface Transportation Act,” or FAST Act.  The Senate is working on a five-year $287B bill, while House Republicans and Democrats have unveiled their own respective surface transportation priorities.

We all know it will be a race and challenge to meet the September 30 deadline.  That’s where you, our members, can help us close the deal.

While we’ll spend two days telling the success stories of contractor, supplier, and manufacturer members like Coughlin Company, Rock Solid Stabilization, Ergon Asphalt and Emulsions, Bergkamp, Caterpillar and Roadtec, we need your help.

Specifically, we need you to invite your Congressional representatives to your offices, labs and road recycling and preservation projects to see for themselves the actual benefits of recycling and preserving our infrastructure.

It’s not that difficult and soon there will be a template on the PPRA web site that will allow you to fill in the blanks necessary to host your own congressional visit.  The greatest impact you can make is by hosting your Representative or Senator to see the difference you and your employees make preserving and recycling our existing infrastructure.

It all starts Tuesday May 12, 2020 when the TCC convenes for its annual legislative fly-in on Capitol Hill.  The TCC is co-chaired by the American Road and Transportation Builders Association (ARTBA) and the Associated General Contractors (AGC).

In the meantime, watch for the introduction of the legislative template on the PPRA web site and don’t hesitate to call or email Tracy Taylor with questions about hosting your own legislative visit.  Tracy.taylor@align-strategies.com or 202-486-6948
