Ultra Thin Lift Hot Mix Asphalt (HMA)

To ensure adequate performance of a project, a mix design must be developed and submitted for approval prior to placement of material. The design shall be devoloped by a certified asphalt design technician and established a range of torlerance for the asphalt and aggregate mixture. Any change in materials, mixture problems or segregation may result in the need for a new or revised job mix formula.  

• The thickness of the lift is typically three to five times the Nominal Maximum Aggregate Size (NMAS).
• Use RAP to help control cost and prevent scuffing.
