Unsuitable Conditions

  • Base stabilization should not be performed when the pavement is frozen or freezing temperatures are anticipated within 7 days of the end of base stabilization placement
  • A minimum ambient temperature of 35 °F (2 °C) is recommended for chemical stabilizing agents
  • A minimum ambient temperature of 45 °F (7 °C) is recommended for bituminous stabilizing agents
  • base stabilization should not be performed in moderate to heavy rain
